Are you a Registered Psychologist in BC who does assessments?
Are you interested in Collegial Collaboration?
The landscape of psychological practice in British Columbia is changing.
With the implementation of the Health Professions and Occupations Act, psychologists are navigating increasing expectations related to:
- Quality assurance and accountability
- Continuing professional development (CPD)
- Ethical, evidence-informed care
- Transparency and public protection
At the same time, demand for psychological assessments—particularly ADHD and autism assessments—continues to grow rapidly across BC.
Safe & Sound Therapeutics is responding to both realities by developing a collaborative Assessment Collective.
A Different Kind of Model
This is not a traditional group practice.
And it is not a referral network.
Safe & Sound provides clinical intake, triage, and matching, allowing you to focus on what you do best: high-quality assessment work.
We are building a structured, ethically grounded ecosystem that supports both:
- Client access to appropriate care, and
- Psychologist sustainability, connection, and professional growth
Why This Model Exists
Many assessment psychologists are currently experiencing:
- Professional isolation in assessment work
- Increasing regulatory expectations under new frameworks
- Administrative burden and inconsistent referral flow
- Limited opportunities for meaningful peer consultation
At the same time, clients are struggling to access services in a timely and informed way.
This model is designed to bridge that gap—ethically and intentionally.
How It Works
1. Clinical Intake & Triage (Handled by Safe & Sound)
Clients are first seen by our team for:
- Clarification of referral questions
- Screening for complexity (e.g., trauma, comorbidities)
- Determination of appropriate assessment pathways
This ensures that you receive well-matched, appropriate referrals.
2. Thoughtful Matching
We match clients with psychologists based on:
- Scope of practice and competence
- Assessment focus (e.g., ADHD, ASD, psychoeducational)
- Experience with complexity
- Availability and capacity
3. Independent Clinical Practice
As a participating psychologist:
- You maintain full clinical autonomy
- You are responsible for your assessment process, conclusions, and reports
- You practice in accordance with all applicable standards and legislation
4. Optional Collaboration & Professional Community
Psychologists within the collective are invited (not required) to participate in:
- Peer consultation and ethically aligned case discussion
- Collaborative learning aligned with evolving standards (HPOA)
- Professional connection to reduce isolation and offer collegial collaboration
This aligns with the broader shift toward reflective, collaborative practice environments.
Alignment with BC Regulatory Standards
This model is intentionally designed to align with:
- The College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia
- The Health Professions and Occupations Act
- The Professional & Quality Practice Program (PQPP)
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements
The evolving regulatory landscape and quality assurance now emphasizes:
- Reflective practice and self-assessment
- Ongoing professional development
- Ethical, accountable care
- Collaboration and communication in healthcare delivery
This model supports these expectations without compromising your independence.
Ethical Clarity
We are committed to ensuring that this model remains fully aligned with professional standards.
- Ethical marketing, there are no misleading representations of services
- Clients are clearly informed that assessments are conducted by independent registered psychologists
- Pricing and Matching based upon clinical appropriateness, case complexity, not incentive structures
- All participation structures are designed to respect professional autonomy, ethical standards and integrity
Who This Is For
This model may be a strong fit if you:
- Conduct psychological assessments (ADHD, ASD, psychoeducational, diagnostic clarification)
- Value clinical autonomy and professional integrity
- Appreciate thoughtfully matched referrals
- Are interested in collaborative, non-isolating practice environments
- Want to ensure your work is aligned with evolving regulatory expectations in BC
What You Can Expect
- A streamlined intake and matching process
- Clients who are more appropriate and prepared for assessment
- Reduced administrative burden related to intake clarification
- Opportunities for regular collegial collaboration and professional connection
- A model designed with long-term sustainability and ethical integrity in mind
A Note on Structure
Participation options (including fee structures and collaboration models) are shared transparently during the application and conversation process.
Our goal is to create mutually beneficial, ethically sound working relationships—not one-size-fits-all arrangements.
