Frequently Asked Questions

Our assessments are designed for adults aged 18 and older, including university students, working professionals, and individuals seeking clarity around ADHD, autism (ASD), learning differences, or cognitive functioning. We also frequently support high school students who already have a diagnosis and require an updated assessment to submit to a college or university for academic accommodations.

The first step is a free consultation with Lisa Harder, where you can discuss your concerns, goals, academic or workplace requirements, and determine the most appropriate type of assessment. This ensures you are not paying for unnecessary testing and that the assessment is tailored to your specific situation.

All assessments are conducted by and completed by Lisa Harder, a highly experienced psychologist with specialized training in adult ADHD, autism, and psychoeducational assessments. Lisa brings a compassionate, neuroaffirming, and evidence-based approach, ensuring clients feel understood, respected, and supported throughout the process. Other clinics are having psychologists do the basic assessment and then handing off the report writing and interpretion to someone else. Here at Safe and Sound we guarantee quality in our work, which includes each and every assessment.

Many post-secondary institutions require an updated assessment to reflect current functioning, especially if your previous assessment is outdated or was completed in childhood. We frequently work with students who already have a diagnosis and need updated documentation to meet institutional requirements.

We are located in Kelowna, British Columbia, and proudly serve clients across BC through both in-person and virtual assessment options.

At Safe & Sound Therapeutics, assessments are not treated as one-time reports — we support you through the entire process, from initial consultation to practical next steps. This includes not only a thorough, evidence-based assessment with Lisa Harder, but also guidance on how to use your results in real life.

If your assessment indicates eligibility, Lisa supports clients with the documentation and clinical information required for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), Persons with Disabilities (PWD) income supports, post-secondary accommodation forms, and other disability-related applications. We take the time to explain findings, translate them into functional recommendations, and ensure you understand how your diagnosis connects to education, work, finances, and daily living.

This whole-person, continuity-of-care approach is a core value at Safe & Sound — we don’t just assess, we walk alongside you afterward, helping you move forward with clarity, confidence, and practical support.
