What Makes Assessments at Safe & Sound Therapeutics Different

Psychological assessments play a critical role in clarifying diagnosis, supporting treatment planning, and enabling access to appropriate accommodations and supports. At Safe & Sound Therapeutics, we approach assessment as a process of care, not a single clinical event.

Our assessment services are designed for adults aged 18 and older, including post-secondary students, working professionals, and individuals seeking diagnostic clarification related to ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning differences, and related concerns. We also regularly support high school students who require updated assessments to meet post-secondary documentation standards.

A Thoughtful, Individualized Assessment Process

All assessments are completed by Lisa Harder, an experienced psychologist who brings a neuroaffirming, evidence-based, and developmentally informed approach to her work. Each client begins with a free consultation, allowing time to clarify referral questions, determine appropriateness, and ensure the scope of assessment aligns with the individual’s functional needs and goals.

This front-end clinical discernment helps ensure assessments are targeted, ethical, and clinically meaningful — avoiding unnecessary testing while maintaining thoroughness.

Beyond Diagnosis: Supporting Real-World Application

What distinguishes Safe & Sound Therapeutics is our commitment to continuity of care beyond diagnostic reporting. We recognize that assessment findings are most valuable when they are translated into practical, usable outcomes.

In addition to a comprehensive written report and feedback session, clients are supported in understanding how results apply to daily functioning, education, and work. Where appropriate, this includes guidance and documentation to support:

  • Post-secondary academic accommodations

  • Workplace accommodations

  • Disability Tax Credit (DTC) applications

  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD) income supports

  • Referrals for therapy, coaching, or other allied services

This integrated approach reduces fragmentation and helps clients navigate complex systems with clarity and confidence.

Accessible, Timely, and Collaborative

We currently offer no waitlist, with assessment services available in person in Kelowna, BC, or virtually for clients across British Columbia, depending on assessment type and client preference. We value collaborative relationships with family physicians, psychiatrists, and allied health providers, and we aim to provide clear, clinically useful reports that support shared care and continuity.

A Client-Centred, Systems-Aware Model

At Safe & Sound Therapeutics, our goal is not simply to answer the question “Is there a diagnosis?” but to support individuals in understanding how their neurocognitive profile impacts their life — and what supports will meaningfully help.

By combining rigorous assessment with compassionate follow-through, we strive to provide a service that is both clinically sound and practically useful — for clients and for the professionals who support them.

For physicians or referral partners seeking timely, high-quality adult assessments with clear documentation and continuity of care, we welcome collaborative connections.
