Sensory diet
A sensory diet is an individualized plan of physical activities and accommodations to help a person meet their sensory needs. The plan is designed for the individual to receive the sensory input required to stay focused and organized throughout their day. Some people may feel like they are having a sensory overload or overwhelmed, thus, requiring a plan that brings them into a calmer state. However, for those that feel sluggish or tired, they require activities to increase their alertness.
Activities included in a sensory diet can be categorized by: proprioception, vestibular, tactile, auditory, visual, smell and taste.
Check out the next post for examples of these activities!
