Starting September 2026, Safe and Sound Therapeutics is offering a small number of counselling spots at reduced rates for people who are paying out of pocket and finding the cost of counselling out of reach. The program has five spots.
Sessions are 50 minutes, in person at our Kelowna clinic or online, with registered clinicians on our team. The counselling you receive is the same as at our standard rate. Only the fee is different.
Your rate is based on your household income. If your household earns under $45,000 a year, sessions are $60. Between $45,000 and $65,000, sessions are $80. Between $65,000 and $85,000, sessions are $100. Above that, we would welcome you at our standard rate of $190.
To confirm your rate, we ask to see your most recent CRA Notice of Assessment. We look at it once. We never copy it or keep it, and the only thing recorded in your file is your fee level.
If your income has recently changed, talk to us. A recent pay stub or record of employment can work too.
If you have extended health benefits that cover counselling, your plan pays first at our standard rate. Once your coverage for the year is used, your reduced rate kicks in. This keeps the reduced spots available for people with no coverage at all.
Each spot includes up to 10 sessions at your reduced rate. Around session eight, your counsellor will talk through next steps with you. After session ten, you are welcome to continue at our standard rate of $190, or we will help you connect with other low-cost counselling options in the community.
The program is open to adults, teens, and children. For children and teens, we look at the guardians' household income and guardians complete the paperwork.
