DST
This Sunday we spring our clocks forward! Who doesn’t love an extra one hour of daylight after work or school? But for some (or most) of us, losing an extra hour of sleep is not ideal.
According to an article by Keith Fridel, Ph.D., LP Sleep Disorders, when we “spring” our clocks forward it can affect our mental and physical health, productivity as well as focus.
Back in the day, 1908 to be exact, and according to an article written by Michael J. Breus, Ph.D. for Psychology Today, Daylight Savings Time (DST) was first used in Thunder Bay, Canada. It was introduced to maximize the use of daytime and daylight at the same time as save and conserve energy. But New Zealand had first invented DST in 1895!
Check out our next post for ways to combat those DST blues!
