Developmental Psychology - centres on how people change and grow throughout life; specifically physical and social growth, intellectual development, emotional and perceptual changes
Educational Psychology - concerned with schools, teaching psychology, educational issues and student concerns such as learning disabilities, giftedness and the instructional process
Experimental Psychology - utilizes scientific methods to research the brain and behaviour. This includes correlational studies, case studies and naturalistic observation
Forensic Psychology - specializes in issues related to psychology and law. This branch involves analyzing criminal behaviour and treatments as well as directly working in the court system
Health Psychology - area that looks at how biology, psychology, behaviour and social factors influence health and illness
Industrial-Organizational Psychology - branch of psychology that applies psychological principles to research on workplace productivity and behaviour and how to maximize the well being of employees .
Personality Psychology - focuses on the study of the thought patterns, feelings and behaviours that make each person unique. This includes Freud’s psychoanalytic theory of personality
School Psychology - involves working in schools to help children deal with academic, emotional and social issues to create a healthy learning environment
Social Psychology - studies and seeks to explain and understand social behaviour as well as investigate group behaviour, social interactions, leadership, nonverbal communication and social influences on decision making
Sports Psychology - studies how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise and physical activity
